Japanese Umbrella
Plywood Relief Sculpture
Japanese Umbrella. A quiet pilgrimage toward inner stillness and balance and the soft restoration of the self. Within it stands a figure, floral and shadowed, their form delicately entwined with the ribs of a translucent umbrella, while a sinuous dragon coils and whispers through the frame, almost dancing within. At first glance, there is only beauty, fragile, composed, almost weightless. Yet beneath this gossamer surface stirs a concealed unrest, a silent struggle veiled by elegance. The umbrella becomes both shelter and disguise, its clarity revealing just enough while hiding what truly trembles within. This piece lingers on the tension between what is shown and what is felt, suggesting that serenity is not found in concealment, but in the courage to be seen. Only by unravelling the façade, by offering one’s unguarded self to the world, can true emotional harmony begin to bloom.
